TY - JOUR T1 - Characteristics Of Girdling Roots On Urban Norway Maples JF - Arboriculture & Urban Forestry (AUF) SP - 268 LP - 270 DO - 10.48044/jauf.1981.064 VL - 7 IS - 10 AU - Robert L. Tate Y1 - 1981/10/01 UR - http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/7/10/268.abstract N2 - Girdling roots were examined on 336 street-side mature Norway maple trees (Acer platanoides) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Most of the girdled trees were girdled by multiple, shallow, subsurface roots. There was no association between girdled trees and narrow tree lawns. Most of the trees were not girdled severely. There did not appear to be any significant effects on crown characteristics attributable to root girdling. ER -
