TY - JOUR T1 - Little-Known Asian Elms: Urban Tree Possibilities JF - Arboriculture & Urban Forestry (AUF) JO - JOA SP - 197 LP - 199 DO - 10.48044/jauf.1980.048 VL - 6 IS - 8 AU - George H. Ware Y1 - 1980/08/01 UR - http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/6/8/197.abstract N2 - Five species of elms native to northern Asia are discussed as trees for possible urban use in the United States. At least a part of the natural range of each species extends into the areas with great temperature fluctuations and low rainfall. The rationale is that elm species from regions with harsh climates in Asia should prove suitable for planting in similar regions of North America. Such trees should also tolerate stresses associated with urban conditions in these North American regions. ER -
