The study made use of a computerized cost accounting system to control and tabulate data regarding the various costs per units completed. Various work methods were used and then compared to determine the most efficient work method. By using the scientific method to evaluate performance, the Grand Rapids Forestry Division was able to increase the number of units completed and decrease the cost per unit in all of its types of work.
