AB Feeding behavior of insect defoliators and the factors that influence a tree’s response to defoliation are briefly described. Arborists and landscape architects can help to mitigate the effects of defoliation through careful selection and maintenance of plant materials. Biological and sociopolitical difficulties that contribute to the gypsy moth problem are discussed.
