YR 1987 UL http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/13/10/243.abstract AB The concept and applications of computerized information systems for the management of urban trees are reviewed. Among their uses are landscape planning, choosing species to be planted, organizing work on trees, departmental planning and evaluation, and public relations. Five types of data required for these purposes pertain to the location of trees, tree characteristics, site characteristics, actions recommended, and work completed. Methods for handling data are reviewed including collection, processing, storage retrieval, and updating. Computer equipment and software options are discussed, particularly microcomputers. Advice is offered on installing a management information system for urban trees and for using it effectively.
