AB Over 375,000 acres of rights-of-way under HydroQuebec power lines must be kept free of tall-growing trees and brush, from the 45th to the 53th parallel. Usual methods employed for vegetation control involve the use of chemicals but recent government regulations have obliged HydroQuebec to take a critical look at these methods. This paper describes the goals and methods developed to take account of growing public and government concern for the environment.
