Less than 1 % of all cut cabbage palm roots regenerated root tips, whereas coconut palms regenerated root tips about 50% of the time regardless of root stub length. Queen and royal palms regenerated more new root tips as length of the root stub was increased. Root pruning stimulated new root initiation from the trunk for all species, but at a rate inversely proportional to the ability of the species to regenerate root tips on severed roots.
