Hensley YR 1994 UL http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/20/2/120.abstract AB Survival and growth of green ash (Fraxinus Pennsylvania) transplanted as balled and burlapped or from field-grow fabric containers (FGFC) filled with field soil alone or field soil amended with hydrophilic gel, peat, or slow-release fertilizer were studied for two years at two locations. Height and trunk caliper increases were not affected by treatment at either location. Canopy width, dry weights, and root numbers also did not differ among treatments when the study was terminated. Plants grown in FGFC had roots which tended to circle in a manner similar to container-grown trees.
