AB Survivability of urban trees is closely related to their “toughness” or inherent capacity to endure stress. Stresstolerance can usually be gauged by assessing ecological adversities of the natural environment of trees as components of ecosystems. Survival and contributions of urban trees depend upon three major considerations: selection of appropriate trees, choice and preparation of favorable planting places; and handling (e.g. proper transplanting) and follow-up care.
