The future is expected to bring increased emphasis on research in support of the care of trees and other plants, ecological restoration, and comprehensive and adaptive management across the landscape. Particular emphasis will be needed on research to guide improvements in urban forest health; ecological restoration techniques; resource inventory and monitoring; dialogue among forest resource owners, managers, and uses; collaboration among agencies and groups; how forest configurations influence forest use and benefits; and dissemination of information about urban forests and their management.
