AB  - This research sought to determine whether there was a difference of opinion on the value of street trees among urban residents depending on whether residents had a street tree planted directly in front of their house. In response to a structured questionnaire, 676 residents of State College, Pennsylvania, U.S., gave their opinions of benefits and annoyances of street trees. Demographic findings utilized descriptive statistics to list the characteristics of the target population. This research showed that there was a statistically significant difference in residents’ opinions depending on whether there was a street tree planted in front of their residence. In developing public policies related to street trees, it is recommended that further similar studies be conducted for better understanding of residents’ opinions on this issue.
