Alan Cameron YR 1983 UL http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/9/2/29.abstract AB The gypsy moth was introduced to North America in 1869 in Medford, MA. During the last 15 years, it has expanded its range rapidly, moving south and west through Pennsylvania and into the Appalachian ridge and valley system. With time, it is likely to invade most of the suitable forest type in the country. The life cycle of the insect is described, as are naturally-occurring controls and applied protection measures and control practices which are available. The urgent need for continued basic and applied research, leading to improved pest management programs, is recognized.
