TY - JOUR T1 - Why Latin Names of Pathogens Change JF - Arboriculture & Urban Forestry (AUF) SP - 274 LP - 284 DO - 10.48044/jauf.1987.056 VL - 13 IS - 11 AU - W.A. Sinclair Y1 - 1987/11/01 UR - http://auf.isa-arbor.com/content/13/11/274.abstract N2 - Most changes in Latin names of pathogens result from research in systematic botany, microbiology, mycology, and nematology. Name changes are made according to, and often because of, international rules of nomenclature. New names for familiar organisms may be rejected on scientific or nomenclatural bases but should not be rejected merely because mastery of new names is inconvenient. A table of name changes proposed or adopted for tree pathogens is presented. ER -
